What we collect

AudioProctor collects two categories of data: teacher account information and anonymous session analytics.

Teacher account information — your email address when you sign in with Google, and the display name and school or division name you choose to provide. This information is associated with your account and your uploaded audio files.

Anonymous session analytics — when a student uses an access code to play an audio assessment, AudioProctor records a log of playback events for that session. These events include: code entered, playback started, playback paused, playback resumed, playback completed, audio replayed, exit word used, and session expired. Each event records its type, the time it occurred, and, for pause and replay events, the position in the audio (in seconds). No student identity is attached to any event at any level.

What we do not collect about students

Students using AudioProctor are anonymous to the system. We do not collect student names, student IDs, Alberta Student Numbers (ASNs), device identifiers, IP addresses, or any information that could identify an individual student. Session events cannot be linked to a specific student — they record only that an event occurred, not who caused it. The same access code can be used by multiple students; AudioProctor does not distinguish between them.

How teacher data is used

Your email address is used solely to associate your uploaded audio files and session analytics with your account. It is not shared with third parties, not used for marketing, and not sold. Session analytics — visible to you through the teacher dashboard — are also available in aggregate form to your school or division administrator if your account is attached to one. Division administrators see only school-level totals; they cannot view individual session events.

Data storage

Audio files, account data, and session analytics are stored with Supabase on infrastructure located in North America. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Audio files are stored in private buckets and are never publicly accessible.

Data retention

Audio files expire automatically based on the expiry window set at upload and are deleted at that time. Session analytics associated with an audio file are deleted when that file is deleted. If you delete your account, all audio files, session analytics, and account data are deleted immediately and permanently. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page.

Third-party services

AudioProctor uses Google OAuth for authentication. Google's privacy policy governs that interaction. We do not use third-party advertising networks. Vercel hosts the application infrastructure; Supabase stores data; Resend delivers transactional emails.

FOIPPA and ATIA

AudioProctor is designed for use in Alberta school divisions subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPPA) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA). No student personal information is collected or stored. The anonymous session analytics described above do not constitute personal information as defined under FOIPPA because they cannot be used — alone or in combination with other information held by AudioProctor — to identify a specific individual. Teacher email addresses are processed under the authority of the school division's existing Google Workspace agreement. Divisions with specific data governance requirements are invited to contact us to discuss a data processing agreement.
